DivX Plus Web Player 2.0 Beta

Update 11/18/09: Final Release is now available

You asked for it, we built it.

We've been slaving away for months on a new version of DivX Web Player that includes a ton of new features. What's new? Well, DivX Plus (.mkv) support for one thing. You can now watch MKV videos right in your web browser, including all the features that made you love MKV in the first place, like bandwidth efficient H.264, multiple audio tracks, subtitles, and 5.1 channel audio. There is also support for dynamic seeking to jump around a video without downloading the whole thing.

When it’s time to scale

If you need to scale your deployment check out Pando Networks’ technology that reduces bandwidth costs and enables reliable video distribution that supports the DivX Web Player. It even works with your existing CDN.

Embedded DivX videos won't play...

I can no longer watch any embedded DivX video which I have posted on my blog, nor watch any embedded DivX video anywhere else. This happened a few months ago when I upgraded to Firefox 3.0.1 - why is this?

Re: Embedded DivX videos won't play...

Please try DivX Web Player 1.4.2 Beta 1, which should fix compatibility with Firefox 3.

Acknowledgement

I would be absolutely thrilled to market and publicize the Divx Web Player.
Unfortunately, it has terrible problems and inconsistencies. It unfortunately has moved downhill since 1.2.

It flat out doesn't work. The buffering has some kind of bug in it, where it is totally inconsistent.

PLEASE fix it.

Jon

Re: Acknowledgement

Jon, can you try DivX Web Player 1.4.2 Beta 1?

If you still have problems please post them in the new Features and Bugs forum. With respect to buffering problems it would help to know which page you're viewing, how full you let the buffer get, where you seek to, etc. so that we can try to recreate any problem that you are seeing.

DivX Player

I see 'Web Player' is in this slot, instead of 'DivX Player'.
Are you going to add another slot for the regular player?

With all the changes to the site, I am gettiing excited thinking of what all is being done to the products.

I can hardly wait for something to test!

Gary
