Help, please! Huge DivX video editing problem

Help, please! Huge DivX video editing problem

I have a Flip videocam which produces DivX format video clips, and I want to edit and assemble them into single videos with titles, music, credits, transitions, etc. Problem is that not one of my video editors accept DivX - I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, Video Factory 2, Power Cinema NE for Everio, PowerDirector Express, and that hopeless dinosaur Microsoft Movie Maker. DivX Author is not the answer, either, as I don't want each short clip to be a chapter, nor do I want my videos to have a DVD-like menu. I need to assemble pods to upload to my various video hosting accounts, some of which do offer to pay for successful videos, which is another reason to exclude DivX Author.

What am I to do?

Does anyone out there know of a video editor which has all the features of Vegas, for example, and which recognizes DivX?

Thank-you in advance.

none of the above

Forget all of this state-of-the-art video editors !

If you just want to cut'n'past some clips VirtualDubMod is absolutely sufficient, and best: it's free !
But keep in mind that - without re-encoding - you can only cut GOP wise and not frame wise!

If you plan to do the whole thing, get avisynth (also for free) as well. This is a really powerful frameserver, plus a ton of additional filters are available. Ok, this is no newbie stuff, so check out doom9.org for more info about avisynth od PM me.

Pinnacle Video

I believe that Pinnacle Studio will allow DivX video editing. I have not used anything newer than studio 9 plus, but at least it would allow importing divx encoded avi files. Not sure if the newer version (11 i think!) supports DivX.

The main problems I found with Pinnacle Studio 9 plus: it would often crash, no matter what you were trying to edit, it was slow, and you had to purchase all these add on packs to get anything useful out of the software (like DivX plugin support)

I thought vegas would import a DivX file...

I haven't used Vegas in a long time and i don't have any of the other programs you mentioned, but i thought Vegas would read a DivX file

the flip encode in DivX but use the Xvid fourCC code. you could use AVIC and change the fourcc code. that might work.

also you can throw the .avi into Virtualdub and export as uncompressed and then use that uncompressed avi in those programs. you'll just have a big file to deal with.
