Web Player doesn't respect pixel aspect ratio

I've encoded a video from PAL Digibeta source to DivX while keeping the resolution (720x576) and setting the pixel aspect ratio to 118/81 (1,457), i.e. picture aspect ratio to 16:9.

The video plays correctly in the DivX Player, and apparently also in the embedded mode of the Web Player if the aspect ratio is set via <embed ... width="720" height="405" ...>

Unfortunately, in the windowed mode and in the full screen mode Web Player does not respect the aspect ratio and shows the video as if the pixels were square.

Is this a known limitation? A solution in the near future?

Or should I change the resolution from 720x576 to 1024x576 (and pixel aspect ratio to 1:1) while encoding?

I feel that resampling isn't a good idea because it will create quality loss and problems elsewhere, so Web Player really should be able to correctly display DivX encoded material out from .divx container.

TIA,
Zrin
