Avi file not working on LG KU990 VIEWTY

Avi file not working on LG KU990 VIEWTY

I just got a new Lg ku990, the problem is that it can't play any avi files any one now why..?

LG KF757

Hi guys,
I recently got the lg kf757 and it won't play divx files that my brother can play on his renoir.
I am currrently using a kingston memory card but have tried my brothers sancard and the videos still do not work. it just says Not Supported Exiting.
Can anybody help me?

"Not Supported"

Both the Renoir and the KF757 are DivX Mobile certified which means they will play any video created with genuine DivX software on the "Mobile" setting.

Anything outside the DivX Mobile spec may or may not play on a device-by-device basis. All phones are unique. The Renoir might play videos that the KF757 does not. Files outside the Mobile spec are not testing during DivX certification.

To ensure compatibility with both phones, always make your videos using the DivX Mobile profile.

PB Divx on Viewty

I have just tried this but for me there no difference:
MY STUFF >>> MY VIDEOS
MY STUFF >>> MEMORY CARD >>> MY VIDEOS
Both way work.

I found another solution: I have try to encode my divx in 400*240 and 400*175, with Xilisoft, and DVDFAB6.

Both resolution work, in 400*175, you do have also the possibility to zoom. It doesn't seam to make any difference in the quality.
I choose a high birate, for a film 2 hours long the avi file is 950mo.

Viewty is QWVGA, that means Wide QVGA 400*240.

I'm not totally sure if this will work for every body.
Hope it will help.

The OS in the Viewty is not complete or finished.
For example the only AVI(divx) file can be watched on the TV. Mp4, and 3gp can not be.
Another example at the moment I haven't been able to watch my pictures on my TV via the cable, but Divx works perfectly.

VIEWTY DIVX PROBLEM RESOLVED - 85%

TO ALL VIEWTY USERS - LISTEN UP

I have had the same DIVX problem with the Viewty as well, however via experimenting, I found a way to defeat the problem. NOTE: The solution is not LOGICAL which means that I really can't provide an explanation of why it works. Anyway here goes:

You may have accessed your videos thorugh: MY STUFF >>> MY VIDEOS

Instead, access your videos through: MY STUFF >>> MEMORY CARD >>> MY VIDEOS

When you do this your DIVX movie should play.

Now do not get heavy-hearted if you get the Not Supported message. It can happen sometimes but there is a higher probablity that the vid should play - at least 85% of the time. Works with me!

Access Method

I have used the Viewty a fair amount and I haven't noticed any difference in playback capability regardless of how the video was started. However, I have seen that some memory cards are not fully compatible with the Viewty. It might be due to the speed of the card or something else, but the card will appear to work fine until you try playing a video and then the card stops working. I can only recommend trying different memory cards to work around this issue.

Many, if not most, of the DivX videos you find on the internet are created using the Home Theater profile. To work best on the Viewty, you may need to convert those videos to DivX Mobile profile using DivX Converter.

Problem fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*UPDATE*
Bought a Sandisk 2gb mirco sd premier to replace the cheap carphonewharehouse own brand one as directed from this thread and everything works fine. Been watching and playing around with video files all day and it works perfectly.

Same problem here too!!!

I just bought an LG Viewty with carphone warehouse own brand 2gb mirco sd card and have EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM! Divx and avi files won't play (file not supported) then memory card can't be read. Power off then on again and it seems fine till i try to play a video.

I've got 60 games and a few songs and pics on the card that play fine but the videos (converted with the bundle divx mobile or just regular avi's) won't. Although videos saved to the handset memory work beautifully.

Surely if the Viewty is so memory card sensitive it would affect the games and music too not just the videos. I've ordered a new Sandisk premier sd card to be sure though. It's such a shame that this is messing up what is otherwise a fantastic phone.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Please let me know.

Problem solved when I tried

Problem solved when I tried a Sandisk micro SD 2 GB memory card. It was a problem that appeared with Kingston card...

I am about to bu the LG

I am about to bu the LG Viewty from Plaisio tommorow. I believe that this (and some other) problem will be solved with a firmware upgrade. Try to do this, and if the problems continues contact LG's support center and tell them that the Life isn't Good!!

I will give more details tommorow about video playback with my LG Viety. If I experience any problems I will provide you them.

Alex.

I have the same problem with

I have problem with my videos files. I can't watch the .divx or .avi file from my memory card (kingston micro SD 2 GB). Is there any solution?

Try These Videos

As mentioned elsewhere, you might have a bad memory card. Try a different card. You could also try some other videos. These have been tested on the LG KU990 and should play fine on your phone.

Same here

I had the same problem, everything like you said above. I was trying to convert some movies with divx converter that came with ku990, but the movies weren't playing and I had to reset SD card by turning phone off and then on...

Using trial and error method I figured out that it had something to do with divx version. I asume you know that ku990 can't play divx 6.*. So,I uninstalled divx 6 an installed divx 5.2. And againg it didn't work. I downloaded those three movies from links above and checked them with GSPOT, which showed divx 5.0. I copyed them to phone and I was able to play them with no problem.

I still haven't tryed to convert movie with divx 5.0 but those three worked. I cant' tell why your phone couldn't play them, but try to mess around with converting with divx 5.0, maybe it helps. I also converted one movie to .mp4 using XILISOFT converter and it played nicely.

Hope something of this helps you...Good luck!!

DivX 6 should work

We always use DivX 6.8 to encode videos for the LG KU990. If you examine the 4CC in a DivX 6 file using GSpot, you will notice that it is DX50. DivX has been using DX50 for years. All DivX 6 files are backwards compatible with DivX 5 so the 4CC is still DX50.

We have noticed that the Viewty is very sensitive to memory card problems. If you find that the Viewty unexpectedly removes all videos that are stored on your microSD card then you might want to try a different card.

If you used the "Mobile" or "qMobile" profile setting on DivX Converter, the resulting videos should play fine on the Viewty.

Not all AVI are DivX

Not all ".avi" files are real DivX files. Furthermore, not all DivX videos fit the DivX Mobile profile. When in doubt, use DivX Converter to convert the video into DivX Mobile format (320 x 240 @ 600 kbps).

That said, the LG Viewty is a very capable device and many DivX videos will play with no conversion necessary. For example, the following file plays well on the Viewty even though the video is 640 x 336 at 1350 kbps (far above Mobile profile)...

'Not Supported' error

I downloaded the .divx file above and was able to view it on my divx player. I then transfered it to my LG Viewty's external memory card. I was able to view it in the 'all videos' window, but when I went to play it I received a 'Not Supported' error. The video then disappeared from the 'all videos' window and my external memory was no longer readable. The external memory and video were restored after powering off the phone.

Can anyone help me fix this problem?

I'm going to place a video on the handset's memory and see if the same error occurs - if it does I would think there is a problem with the phone's divx certified player.

Also, this 'Not Supported' error message also appeared, with the same result, after trying to play a DivX converted 'mobile' video file.

Test Video

I just checked it again. I was able to download the Secret Unboxing video and play it back on a LG Viewty with no trouble.

Is there a problem with your memory card? You might want to try a different SD card.

Do you have any other files on your SD Card? Maybe a different video is causing trouble? You may encounter problems due to a corrupted video even if you never choose to play that video. The Viewty reads every file on the card and creates those tiny thumbnail images in the file browser.

Try some other videos. Here are a few more:
http://labs.divx.com/files/ComicConWeekend.divx
http://labs.divx.com/files/007ConnectedLaunchUS.divx
http://labs.divx.com/files/Thursday-Day1.divx

All those videos should play fine on the Viewty.

Videos Tested - Failed

DivXMobile, thanks for you help.

I successfully downloaded and added those three videos to my Viewty. Before attempting to play any of them, I was able to see all the tiny thumbnails, and everything appeared okay. I then selected one of your videos and pressed play. The phone seemed to stall, and then the 'Not Supported' error message appeared.

Following the error message, all videos on the external memory disappeared, and all that were left were those videos stored on the handset's internal memory. To restore the external memory the phone must be turned off then back on.

I will try and get another memory card today to see if that solves the problem. If not, I think I'll have to conclude the handset is defective.

Thanks again for the help.

Anybody else?

I hope that it's just a problem with your SD card since that would be an easy item to replace. I have tested 2 Viewty phones using those videos and haven't experienced a problem. However, using other videos, I have experienced the symptom you described. The Viewty would fail to play some video and then it seemed like the SD card disappeared. I chalked it up to incompatible videos. Maybe there is something else going on. Maybe the Viewty has a compatibility problem with certain brands or sizes of SD cards. Maybe there is an even more esoteric interaction. I'll try to reproduce the problem.

Can any other Viewty owners verify that the above videos work on their phone?

SD Micro replaced

I picked up a new SanDisk 2G SD Micro chip yesterday. So far, I have not had the same issues that I had with the Kingston 2G SD Micro chip.

Hopefully the problem was 100% related to bad memory. I will let you know if the problems persist.

Problem Solved

I'm not sure why, but all I had to do to solve my problem was switch the primary memory storage to external. It was saving to the handset while I was experiencing these issues.

Problem NOT Solved

Well, it looks like I jumped the gun. Everything was working properly yesterday, but today I once again received the 'Not Supported' error message. Very frustrating, to say the least.

Now I need to determine whether the problem is handset related or memory card related.

Also, from the time the phone funtioned perfectly to when it failed, the only things I did with the phone were transfer a few files (bluetooth) to my Mac, then delete the files off my phone, and send a few text messages. That's it. And now I get the error message again. Hmmmm...

I have the same problem with

I have the same problem with dustin.stitgen. I can't watch the .divx or .avi file from my memory card (kingston micro SD 2 GB), but when i transfer the file to phone's internal memory the problem is solved. Is there any solution?
