Why Make a Web Player that isn't a Web Player?
Okey,
Here we go, I'm building this video website as we speak, i decided to use Divx because if the stunning quality and design i saw at Stage6 (these were the days).
Divx has a converter called Divx Converter - smart and simple to use, but howcome this does not have a command line interface?
If a command line interface existed someone could just wrap this with a suitable programminglanguage and use it for auto-encoding newly uploaded movies..... WHY NOT?!?! Now i had to use mancoder instead.
Divx Web Player has a "mode" (lol) that allows you to rename your files with _ns.divx and they are in "no save" mode... "smart", well when the movie is fully buffered the movie is still saved in cache and the user can select "save as" from the web player... Who had this idea - and why doesn't it even work??
Why isn't there a way to hide the full search path to the .divx movie / storage, in a config or anything, would make it harder to download movies for users.
e.g.
And here we are wondering why people choose to use flash when delivering video over the internet, because;
- With a few line of code/editing existing player i can accomplish almost all of the above stated problems, without any as knowledge.
Please correct me if i'm wrong or give me a solution to these problem, else I'll have no other choise than selecting flash (flv) over Divx.
