Firmware 1.1.2.37: stutter in first second of music

In firmware 1.1.2.24 and 1.1.2.37 I recognized a problem that never occured in the original firmware. In the beginning of each mp3 file is a stutter, means: mp3 starts with ~0.2 seconds of normal sound, then ~0.2 seconds silence, after that the song plays normal.
The problem starts after updating the firmware to 1.1.2.24.
It's only hearable, when the file has no silence at the beginning e.g. in live albums.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Stutter still exists

I know this may be falling on deaf ears but has anyone else noticed that since the 'fixed' 1.5 server the stutter at the start of music still exists.

On my system it is not as frequent as it was but it definetly occurs from time to time.

I'm starting to think that perhaps a wired connection is the only way forward, probably for this and most other wireless media streamers.

A glimmer of hope!

Along with you guys I am also frustrated with the stutter problem.

However, Dsalmonsen did say an update would be available in mid June that would deal with some of these pressing bugs.

Here's hoping!

I wonder if anyone has tried rolling back to a previous version of the firmware, I guess you might loose the on screen volume control. Apart from that it might be worth doing it to improve playback performance.

Info on sutter issue

I have also been able to duplicate this issue. It seems to happen most reliably with a wireless network. With a wired network, it happens less often, but still happens.

Engineering will look into the root cause but at this point I can not say when it could be fixed.

Can someone please respond!

Hi,
I like many others are finding the stutter at the beginning of all MP3 files very annoying.

Could someone from Divx or D-link please confirm that they are working on this and give an indication of when this critical issue will be resolved.

Greenman.

Is there any progress with this music stutter yet?

Even an ackowledgement that this specific problem is being worked on would be brilliant.

I think we've all waited very patiently!!

Any solution at the horizon?

Can we expect a solution for this problem in the near future?
This bug is really annoying and kills the fun in using divx connected for music playback.

More than 3 months now and

More than 3 months now and no change. And as I see, I'am not the only one with this problem.
Music playback is not much fun anymore with divx connected.
Since server 1.0 music playback gets constantly worser.

1. Server 1.1 (10 Months ago): the sorting has changed to alphabetic sort by title, instead of sorting by filename or tracknumber, which makes it impossible to hear an entire album (in particular with mixed artist) in correct order.
No fix in the last 10 months.
2. Firmware 1.1.2.24 (3 months ago): the mentioned stuttering appeared
No fix in the last 3 months.
3. Server 1.4: music playlists are broken (I read that this is fixed now, but I can't update and prove it because of the problem with the choppy video playback).

That's my personal history of music development in the divx connected device.
A year ago I hoped that divx connected could be a great platform, cause it was the first device with an attractive ui for video AND music, while all other manufactures only concentrates on the video part (mostly more codec support).
In the connunity forum we enthusiasticly started a big thread with a wishlist for further development with a lot of good ideas for music improvement (among other things), but nearly nothing of these ideas made it into the development.

Almost a year later all the great hopes from the beginning are gone and I would be happy, if the music playback was as good (means: error free) as in server 1.0.

That's frustrating.

I have just tried to reproduce this

I have just tried to reproduce this and it is working for me. What server version are you using? If if is not the latest 1.3.1.10 can you try it and see if it helps?

Server is 1.3.1 Build: 10. I

Server is 1.3.1 Build: 10. I tried it with older server versions (versions that have no problem in the past)and nothing changed.

The problem started after updating the firmware (not server!) of the DSM-330 to version 1.1.2.24 (an update to firmware 1.1.2.37 didn't change anything).

So, I think it's a firmware problem, not a server software problem.

Further information:
- problem exists on digital and analog output
- problem is not file specific, I tried mp3 with cbr and vbr and different bitrates
- it's only one short dropout at the beginning of each song after exactly the same playtime (~a half second). If the song has a second of silence at start, you miss the dropout.

I have this problem too

Hi,

I have noticed this problem recently with the playback of MP3 files.

The track starts to play, there is short pause and then it continues normally. It is at the start of every track (but only noticable when the start of the track is loud and not silent)

I have Server 1.4.1.1, firmware 1.1.2.37 on a DSM330 connected wirelessly.

The problem is not there when using the connected PC Client.

Please tell us you can repreoduce this problem

Yep me too

I have the same problem.

The first 100/150 ms there is a hickup in the audio.
Sounds like a buffering problem.

Happens with all files.

Using the latest beta firmware and server versions.

I capitulated

I capitulated.
After more than 9 months of waiting, I don't like to wait any longer.
I bought myself a Squeezebox and now I can hear music without dropouts and with much more comfort.
I no longer believe, that divx connected will have a proper music section with on-the-fly playlists, gapless playback and all these things you can expect from a modern music player.
I already love the ui of the connected device and would have loved to use it for all my media. But the music-section has to much faults and missing features at the moment and if the progress of the last 12 months is an indicator for the future, I am not willing to wait so long.
