VUZE in Australia?
Im curious as to know if this will work in Australia, would anyone have a clue, or should i just download it and see?
Give it a shot
Yes, just give it a try. The Vuze content is not geo restricted. You don't have to download the plug-in though. You can just go into the services tab in your DivX Connected menu and select Vuze from there. Just make sure to download the Vuze client first (www.vuze.com).
Bugs n tings
This plugin is a very nice addition to the D-Link box!
After playing with it for a few days i can see the potential of this sort of plugin and readily await later versions of the softwarez
Why later versions you may ask?
Well let me start with the navigation within the menus of the Vuze plugin. The directional keys on the remote work as normal but jumping pages or using the number keys to jump to a certain letter in the list do not work at all. This would be ok if the lists were relatively short but most are not.
Navigation whilst during playback. You can pause and restart the playback of an item. There appears to be no support for fast forward or rewind or jump forward, jump back (up and down directional buttons). This is ok for the short clips but for longer ones you may have been watching and the server crashed you have to start right from the beginning. Now this maybe a limitation of the clips formats (.mkv's) but it really can be a pain.
Audio sync. During playback there are sometimes stutters in the video/audio and generally after the stutter the sync between the two has shifted with the audio lagging the video. Not so bad for short clips but the longer the clip the worse the sync issues. (The sync adjustment via the menu button also seems to have no effect)
Processor usage. The processor usage during playback of clips in Vuze on my system floats around the 50% mark. Acceptable as its potentially converting the files on-the-fly to a format that the DSM-330 can display. Whilst in the menu system of the Vuze plugin though the processor is usually max'd out. Now my server is not the best but a 2GHz processor running max'd out just to display a menu???
All in all a great preview of the potential for direct access to huge amounts of content for almost every taste. A few bugs and features to sort out but i like it a lot!
