Xvid out of sync

Xvid out of sync

Hi,

I recently bought a divx connected box and installed the provided Divx player software, codecs, server etc. I then updated to the latest versions.

Everything seems to work fine with the exception that a few of my Xvid files seem to be out of sync with the audio.

They seem to play in sync with Windows Media Player and with PowerDVD, but out of sync with the DivX Player and on the DivX Connected box. I wondered if it might be because WMP & PDVD were using a different codec, but I've checked and as far as I can see only the divx 6.8.4 codec is being used by all.

Here are the details of one of the files in question...

Video.......
Resolution: 624x352 (16/9)
FFS: 23.98
BitRate: 990Kbps
Quality: 0.19 b/px
Codec: Xvid MPEG-4
Audio.......
Channels: 2
Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
BitRate: 188 Kbps
Codec: MPEG 1 or 2 Layer 3 (MP3)

(This is on a windows XP machine)

(Oddly though, I have similar files that don't have the sync problem with the DivX player or the DivX Connected box)

I've tried using the divx convertor (just to see what it does), but the created file then plays out of sync on everything including WMD & PDVD.

I'm not overly technically minded and suspect that there is probably a simple solution to this problem, but after searching though the webs and these forums I can't find the answer, so any advice would be welcomed!

I don't know what the problem is and how to solve it so you won't have this problem again...but if you want to watch your xvid file you can hit the menu button during play back and resync the sound yourself for this specific file!

Good idea Goldrolly. It's certainly a suitable work around until I fix the problem. Thanks.
