Server 1.4.0 - Problems with sleep mode & Lan wakeup
Great new server update with the facility of turning the pc off / putting it to sleep or hibernating it etc BUT I'm running into problems.
I've gone into my bios to check the power settings are on S3 etc
I've gone into device manager and set my network card to wake etc.
When I click hibernate or sleep on the DivX connected box, it sends my pc to sleep but them immediately wakes it up again.
Am I doing something wrong?

Forget it, the problem seems to have resolved itself since updating to the latest firmware and lateast beta server.
Did anyone have any suggestions for my original post?
I installed the new 1.4 and it makes all the video play back choppy, I shut down everything and restarted and still bad playback. I uninstalled everything and installed 1.4 only with out any other versions first and restarted everything and still the same problem. I un installed everything and reinstalled 1.3 and it's back to normal and play back is fine. Other than that 1.4 seemed to be OK, Has anyone run into the same problem?
What were the file type(s) where you were experience choppy playback? DivX/Xivd, WMV, other... all?
I'll pass this info along... there may be more questions.
All formats and all sizes. Smaller file and resolution and larger higher resolutions. All we choppy with 1.4 but alright with 1.3. I installed 1.4 on a second machine with clean Window XP install to see maybe if it was another program causing the problem and also shut down all resident programs like AVG anti-virus, volume control and any of the others and the same problem but 1.3 fixed it.
@steve2k,
This will vary depending on how you have your Power Management settings set.
Go here http://labs.divx.com/wol
- Make sure you have the checkbox 'Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of stanby' unchecked
If you don't see that option then you may have a different Power Management setting compared to the one you see here http://labs.divx.com/wol
If that's the case I assume you have the Wake on LAN section which will display serveral checkboxes.
-Make sure you have checkbox 'Wake on Directed Packet' unchecked
-Make sure you also have checkbox 'Wake on Link' unchecked'
Let me know if this works for you

Ok I followed the full instructions and I never had the "Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of standby' checked.
Checked this, went and set my pc to standby via the connected box. The PC went to sleep ok. Turned the connected box off then back on, finding servers, no servers found.
Had to go back upstairs to wakeup the pc
With the "Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of standby" unchecked.
Set it to sleep it goes to sleep then immediately wakes up again.
Could it be something to do with my router or Vista?
@steve2k
I'll put your post in front of a few more eyes to see if anyone has any clues... is your PC a factory machine or home/custom built? I ask only because there may need to be some more research into how your PC handles Wake On LAN. Have you used Wake On LAN successfully with any other product(s)?
@greenman
You need to use the NEW Break plug-in over here:
http://labs.divx.com/node/7023
Any of the old/beta Flash plug-ins will behave like you described (the sound coming out the PC.

Hi
Just installed the latest 1.4 server and I am experiencing a couple of problems.
The system allows us to now add the whole of a drive to the scan directories. Unfortunately when I did this all of my music and photos disappeared on the DSM330 from those directories.
Also I have the break plug-in. When using the PC client this sound works, but when I play the break video on the DSM330 the sound comes out of the Server PC and not the TV.
Cheers,
Greenman
Greenman,
How did you install Server 1.4, was it through auto update? If so did you select YES to save settings or NO to save settings?
Also what tab setting (that is Video, Music or Picture Settings tab) did you add the C: to?
-RJ
Hi,
With regard to the lost directories I installed 1.4 by auto update and I asked for it to retain the settings of the previous version.
This worked fine, however, to index the video files I had previously listed out the individual directories (becuase I couldn't select a root drive). Given the 'bug fix' in 1.4, I removed the individual directories and added the whole Z drive (external USB drive). This seemed to work but when I looked at the Music directories, my music folder (which is on the Z drive) had disappeared from the index list.
I have now reverted back to selecting the folders individually.
Hope this makes sense,
Greenman.
Hi,
Sat down to watch a film last night and got increasing frustrated with the DSM330.
I assume the problems step from 1.4 server.
After about 20 minutes the video became choppy and eventually froze. I had to shut down the server and restart, then again after a few minutes same thing happened again. Third time when it started to get choppy I exited the video and all the on screen menus were extremely slow.
Once I shut down and open up the server everything works fine again until I play video for a few more minutes.
I've tried it on a few files and I get the same result. The files played previously without any problems.
The file is FFDS compression (avi).
I think I may have to revert back to 1.3.

PS On a positive note, it is nice to see that the photo orientation problem is resolved!
I found all the same problems with 1.4, but I found it also kills the connection to my NAS device. It will play the video for awhile then freezes and comes up with a playback error. Then when you try to restart the video it can not find the video and I find the NAS locked up and not able to access in any way.
Is the new break plug-in working out for you?
Also, on the initial posting of the 1.4 plug-ins, the Vimeo link was wrong (actually pointed to a static Veoh one)... you can also try this Vimeo one if you want to check out Flash with audio:
http://labs.divx.com/files/vimeo.zpi
Thanks for the link to the v1.4 flash plugins. The Break plugin (and the others) work well.
Thanks.
Greenman
Anyone managed to log into their youtube account? I just see an eternal spinning wheel before my eyes. Great to see flash supported at long last well done. I gave up waiting ages ago in favour of a dsm 520 - hasn't got half a million geeky themes but it's brilliant for internet streaming.
I downloaded the 1.4 update and at first, it would only give me a blank screen on the flash videos. When I hit the setup key, it would briefly flash the Connected interface before going into setup so I know that it was there, but otherwise I couldn't get any picture at all. After installing the firmware update with the settings included, I was able to get back playback for DivX and the Connected interface, but still could not watch any of the flash plugins. When I would try, I would just get a blank screen that looked like it was stuck trying to load the file.
Finally, I tried to uninstall connected and reinstalled the 1.4 update and it worked amazing. I'm so excited right now I'm shaking. Adding flash support is a huge bonus for the platform. I'm not sure why I had difficulties at first, but if you run into any problems my recommendation is to try to reinstall and see if you have any success.
I have some minor complaints about the interface like the crappy banner ads from Hulu showing up on the screen for too long and being able to actually see the YouTube video player on my big screen instead of exclusively focusing on the video itself, but these are really cosmetic changes. I'm still exploring all of the new features, but being able to watch my favorites from YouTube is a very fulfilling experience.
