DivX Web Player 1.4.2 Beta 2 Update

This update to DivX Web Player adds support for Firefox 3, enables downloads over https and resolves many stability issues reported since the last beta.

New in Beta 2

DivX Web Player 1.4.2 Beta 2 includes all of the enhancements previously noted below and further improves stability for sites that control the web player via API.

Support for Firefox 3

Several compatibility problems affecting Firefox 3 users have been addressed in this beta version. The browser would occasionally fail to redraw when changing from full screen to embedded mode and the mouse cursor would sometimes turn black. Both of these issues have been corrected.

Support for https

Back by popular demand, it is once again possible to serve video files to DivX Web Player over SSL by using the prefix 'https://' in URLs passed via the video or src parameters.

Improved stability

This beta improves stability when multiple instances of DivX Web Player are in use. E.g. where several player objects are embedded on a single page or where the user has several pages open in a tabbed browser.

Downloading DivX Web Player 1.4.2 Beta 1:

DivX Web Player is part of the DivX for Windows package and can be installed over any prior version of DivX. If you're a registered user of DivX 6, your registration will be retained if you choose to try this beta or if you choose to re-install the last official release of DivX for Windows.
