x264 Team crash the DivX Halloween party!
Today we held the DivX Halloween party, a much anticipated annual event where the food and beer flows freely and our teams wardrobe looks slightly less out of place than it does the other 364 days of the year. Amidst the chaos of roaming children, pets, and the costume competition we ran into an unexpected visitor downstairs at reception..
Throughout October the x264 developer blog had featured references to cake. Exactly why we didn't know. Some obscure reference to the delightful goodness that is Portal, perhaps? Our minds boggled. That was until today when developer Dark Shikari turned up at our front desk on behalf of the x264 team with a huge cake to celebrate the one-thousandth revision of x264 and to congratulate DivX on our launch of Project Rémoulade!
Cake will generally get you far at DivX. If you're planning to crash our events you should know that I'm personally a big fan of anything chocolately or coffee flavored. This cake in particular was a lovely strawberry sponge though, and was devoured almost instantaneously to many compliments. We also received a couple of cards, one all the way from France, and during lunch we managed to make many brief introductions before taking the opportunity to discuss some of the work that is going on around DivX 7.
We'd like to thank Dark Shikari for joining in with us today, and to congratulate the x264 project on making their 1000th revision! Let us know when you set up a headquarters so we can return the favor ;)
