Just loaded Player 7. It has solved the problem with reding the menus which 6.8 did not do. So far, it behaves just like 6.7 used to do with Divx Author 1.5 menus. Great!! Iy did crash once, however, but could not get to do it again. Will keep posting.

DIVX Player 7 Problems

On your advice I upgraded QuickTime to version 7.5.5 and the mp4 program crash has been solved -- best I can tell on a small sampling is that Player 7 works fine with the QuickTime upgrade ...

Reference the distorted sound when playing mkv files ... Just by chance I changed the sound (in preferences) from 5.1 to stereo and the sound problem has been cleared up ...

I still need to check more on the menu selection -- will try to do that in the next several days -- this is a busy time of year ...

Thanks for your help!

DIVX Player 7.0

When playing an mp4 file and you move the cursor to the seek bar - the program crashes.

Attempted to play an mkv file tonight and the sound was distorted (sounded like it was being played in fast forward) - the picture was perfect.

The menu select seems to work OK -- I still need to experiment a little more -- when I first tried there were some strange happenings but then worked correctly.

Re: DIVX Player 7.0

fjmurphy:

I can't reproduce this problem. MP4 files are currently decoded via the QuickTime API. Can you please try updating to the latest version of QuickTime (close DivX Player while you do this) and see if you still have the crash on seeking? If you do I may need to get a sample file from you. If you'd like me to set up a private FTP account for you please let me know, or if you have somewhere of your own you can host a file send me a message with the URL.

Can you provide the following information about your system so I can look into the distorted sound issue:

* Windows version and service pack level
* Sound card make/model
* Sound card driver version
* Graphics card make/model
* Graphics card driver version

You can get all of this information by using Start->Run->Typing "DXDiag". You can send it to me in a private message if you don't want to publish it here on the forums.

Thanks for your help! :)

Player 7.0 Beta 1

I installed Player 7.0 Beta 1 on a fresh Vista Ultimate computer. I can't play my Canon Camcorder .mts files.

Doesn't this player have everything to play these files, splitter, demux, codecs...? I tryed with the Divx Player and Windows Media Player. No offense but I prefer the Windows Media Player since this already comes with Windows and requires minimal training for other.

Please if you can help me (laymen terms), I know very little about codecs, splitters..., and prefer not to have to learn these terms because it seems when it comes to codecs you really have to cross you fingers.

I think for this to be successfully anyway, like your support for divx, I can just download the bundle and it works.

On .mts

fharczuk,

Player does not have an mts splitter built-in, try installing Haali Splitter.

Thanks. This may be a dumb

Thanks.

This may be a dumb question but are there any plans to include a splitter?

At some point I would like to have others watch this Video's with limited system configuration, installation.

Re: mts splitter

fharczuk,

Agree, this would be nice. It's not part of the DivX file format but hopefully in future it can be added.

BTW, it should be very simple to use MKVMerge from the MKVToolnix package to take your stream and write it into an MKV container.

Big step forward

Wow, this is a big step forward. It installed flawlessly. I tried some H264 movies from my library and they all played fine, even those with AC3 in MP4 which was a big suprise. However, I couldn't see which DirectShow filters were in use. Allowing to attach to the remote graph would be a good addition or an enumeration list of the filters in use.

Re: Player 7

Great news! Thanks for letting us know :)
