Potential Realtek HD Audio Fix
I experienced the known issue audio de-synchronization with Realtek HD Audio Driver v. 5.10.0.5567. This version was downloaded from Windows Catalog earlier this year after Windows Update offered it as an optional, non-critical update .
The de-synchronization problems were remedied by the latest drivers released 2008-11-05 (WDM_208.ZIP) and dated 2008-10-31 from
http://www.realtek.com/
Rapidly moving the timecode slider now results in a very brief de-synch and then near instant snap back to synchronization. This is with full hardware acceleration and best sampling rate from Control Panel | Properties and full DirectX hardware acceleration set within DXDiag.
Drivers installed via Device Manager || Update Driver, then specifying the contents of the unzipped Realtek download which updated to version 5.10.0.5730.
Usually these drivers are made available not by Realtek, but rather by the PC or Mainboard manufacturer. Checking for latest drivers from system or mainboard manufacturer's website may be in order. Trying these from Realtek after doing whatever necessary restore point, backup, preparation for re-install of old driver, or whatever else also seems prudent might be in order for beta testing.
