Hi, Could someone please let me know what the best settings are to convert using DivX Converter 6.6.1 for best playback on my HTC Touch HD? The processor speed is 528 MHz with a Display Resolution of 480 x 800. Many Thanks!! Mackemexile

Converter Settings

Start with the "Mobile" profile on converter. Do not use "Home Theater". The Touch HD has a high resolution display, but I would still recommend using 320x240 for DivX playback.

Drag/drop a video on to Converter.

Press "View List" and see the file you just added.

Press "Modify" to adjust the default settings for "Mobile".

By default, Converter will limit the Video bitrate to 550 and the audio bitrate to 64. I would recommend adjusting the bitrate down to 300 and the audio up to 128. If you are unhappy with the video quality, try 350 or 400. The Touch HD should be able to handle those rates. For older, slower phones, I recommend 200 for the video and 64 for the audio.

Press the "Convert" button after you are done modifying the default settings.

Converter Settings

Thanks again!! Those settings worked but the sound was a little low...I had to have everything turned up to full and even then it was a bit low....if I increase the audio bit rate will that help?
Also I was wanting to utilize the full dimensions of the screen but the mobile settings that you suggest (320 x 240) doesn't fill the screen. Do you know if there will be an update to the converter mobile settings that will allow me to increase the width to more than 320?
Cheers

Volume

No, the audio bitrate has no impact on the audio volume. Unfortunately, DivX Converter doesn't offer any method for increasing the volume. You'll have to try a more complicated program like VirtualDub.
