Freezing when Folders Added

Hi Folks:

I'm running Divx Connected Server 1.3 to a DLink DSM 330 on Windows Vista, 3 GB RAM, Dual Processor 1.8.

The update on my folders seems to give out - I have quite a few movie and video files(likely around 1500) on three different disks.

When the update gives out, I try a rescan, which doesn't always work. I try to remove and readd the folder to force a rescan, which crashes the server program completely. When I restart the server program, all it sees is the old folder which was removed before the crash, not the new one that was added to cause the crash. I've tried renaming the folder, and adding a completely new folder with the same results. The folder I'm trying to add is my "new downloads" folder and typically has about 5-10 items in it updated daily.

I have tried server 1.4 (which refuses to even start in a Vista environment) and server 1.4.1 beta (which crashes often in Vista and seems to be a waste of time at this stage - obviously a work in progress hence the "beta" designation).

Other than the update issue, the player and server seem to work well if you stick with 1.3 server. I even tried it over my wireless network the other day and it worked great between 2 walls in my apartment with no video or sound lag.

If I can just get the update issue fixed I'll be a happy camper.

I really don't want to go to xbox as I wouldn't use it for anything else other than media streaming, but might have to if I can't figure this out!

Server 1.4 is the only way to resolve your problem

Server 1.3 had issues with content scanning.

We need to figure out why your system is crashing with 1.4. Please take a look at this post to see how you can send us the info that help find the problem.

Hope this helps.

Server 1.4 beta is actually the best and most reliable version for most users, we just need to figure out why it is not working for you.

Server 1.4

I was running Server 1.4 for a while on a clean install of Vista, but found that it crashed regularly and had several other problems. After a while, it just wouldn't start up at all after ongoing crashes (several times a day).

Postings on this forum suggested that the best fixes were

1) To download a new transport dll file which I did but which didn't resolve the issue - it was a little better but still crashed at least once a day and eventually just stopped starting up all together - just comes up with "not responding" when started.
2) To revert back to 1.3 server until all the issues were resolved with a new release. This, for the most part, seems to have resolved the crashing and freezing issue except when updating folders.

I realize that you won't provide support for previous versions, and will just have to live with it I guess until you can get out a new server version that is much more stable than 1.4, but would hope that with all the postings on your forum about issues with 1.4, that you will "rush" through the new update.

If you can send us a crash dump file...

If you can send us a crash dump file from server 1.4, we way be able to identify the problem and provide a fix in the next server release.
