Remote Desktop crash divx server (dsm 330)

Hy all,

Connecting to my divx server with winxp remote desktop make the divxserver loose a color (I use hallo theme and it turn from orange to green).

The server become slow via DSM 330. Need to restart the divx server computer to solve the problem.

If I do not log to my server with remote desktop, divx server works well as long as I use remote desktop again.

Can some of you guys try this and tell me if you have the same problem?

Yes, I have the same issue, but to be fair I do get a warning prompt on the server which does warn of problems associated with starting the server remotely, so I guess its a known issue that probably will not be changed. My workaround is simply to reboot the server just before I drop the remote connection using run, shutdown -r.

I'm not using Remote Desktop because I'm more familiar with VNC and find that works better (I work in a pure Linux environment.)

One thing about remote desktop and VNC (I think they're related anyway) is that when they have latency they will dial back color depth and reduce the accuracy of reproduction to cut down on bandwidth. Maybe that's what you're really experiencing?

I've logged dozens of hours using VNC and haven't had any problems with connected. I'm probably doing it for similar reasons, I want to tuck away my server in the cabinet (right now its in the basement) and in the end I'm probably not going to be interacting with the machine directly.

If you wanna try with winXP (read you had Linux):

That will give you the remote desktop console :
start menu, run, mstsc /console
Put your computer name or IP, user name and password and your logged with remote desktop (native in winxp).

Than tell me if you experience the same.
