Unsupported Phones
What's the difference between a DivX Certified phone and a DivX compatible phone?
A certified phone plays DivX video right out of the box. No additional steps required. A DivX compatible phone requires installing DivX Mobile Player software to add DivX playback capability. Do not try to install DivX Mobile Player on a DivX Certified phone. It is not required or recommended. For information about DivX Certified phones, see http://www.divx.com/mobile/
Is DivX Available for my Phone?
We frequently get requests along the lines of "which version of the player do I need for the XYZ phone?" Unfortunately, we can't provide an exhaustive list of supported phones. Basically you need a Windows Mobile 5+ phone or a Symbian 9+ phone.
What is the Operating System on my Phone?
Generally we can't answer this question for you but if you are having trouble figuring what OS is on your phone then it probably is NOT a Windows or Symbian phone.
What about the iPhone or Blackberry or Android?
We get a lot of questions about these phones but there is no version of DivX Mobile Player available for any Blackberry, Android or iPhone.
What about the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic or N97?
The Nokia N97 and 5800 use Symbian 9.5 S60 5th Edition. This is a relatively new operating system and currently there is no version of DivX Mobile Player available for any S60 5th Edition phone.
What about older Windows and Symbian phones?
Earlier versions of DMP were available for Windows Pocket PC 2003 and earlier versions of Symbian. Unfortunately DivX is unable to continue supporting the older models and has discontinued everything earlier than Windows Mobile 5 and Symbian 9.
What about Palm?
Many phones from Palm use Windows Mobile and are compatible with the Windows Mobile Professional version of DivX Mobile Player. However, many phones from Palm use the Palm OS also known as the Garnet OS. Palm Garnet OS phones are not compatible with DMP.
When will my phone be supported?
We may include support for more models in the future but we won't announce any product plans ahead of time.

The Samsung M8800 Pixon is a DivX Certified phone. You do not need to install DivX Mobile Player or any other software. The Pixon already has the ability to play DivX Mobile videos.

You should release the DivX player for Symbian 9.4 quite soon or you will not meet market demands for a quality product.
Hi DivX team,
You have a wonderful product and I have a great phone :)
Do you have an estimate for N97 (Symbian 9.5) supportability ?
In the mean time, would it work if I install the S3 player and just copy the movie in the folder where the demos are ?
Thank you and best regards,
Dragos Diamandescu
Hi DivXMobile
you should develop compatible DivX player for Symbian OS 5th edition especially since you already have 3rd Edition supported. Not much work required there!
Yup, thats correct, its easy.
All to do is add the touch-controls, the app scales into the screen itself in the s60 3rd ed version.
But, the controls are not possible to use unless you use a virtual keypad.
Would it be that big work?
You can base it off the S60 3rd edition version.
You're correct.
As a software and firmware developer I agree with you.
Mainly because I work with mobile terminals as well.
Unless the software source code is a mess, there's no reason to take this long time, since it's necessary to the software just to accept touchscreen events.
Well, that's a software developer point of view. It can be that their commercial policy focus on agreement to the mobile manufacturers. If you note it, there's no Nokia, Sony or Motorola certified devices. Even so, I think it's not a good idea to take this amount of time, manly because DivX it's not the only player on the video players 'market'.
Sorry for the english mistyping and errors.
