Web based MKV streaming

May be a little off topic, but for those looking for an MKV streaming solution for the web, check out the DivX Plus Web Player.

It can stream .mkv as well as .avi .divx files from a standard HTTP 1.1 server. It also supports h.264 video and AAC audio.

MKV

They didn't release the MKV support yet, but you can play around with it in prerelease hacker mode (I haven't done it yet myself, that's my project for this weekend!) Start here with Kamiwa [url=http://www.kamiwa.de/en/blog] he shows you how to do the hacking and there's a couple articles in there that talk about how the next release will support MKV.

MKV hacking tip

Whenever you change the .config file to extend the format support, it is best to kill all DivXConnected processes in task manager and restart the server after the changes so that monitor and scanner processes can see the new file types.
