Mac OSX 10.4.11 - WebPlayer just not works

Hi folks, if someone out there could be so kind and explain me how to bring the webplayer to work I'll send him a box of beer! Maybe even two.

The problem:
I installed 1.4 beta 1 and beta 2 of the webplayer but nothing works. Firefox and safari show "No Video" (White on black). When I remove VLC and Quicktime Plugins a.s.o it now seems to show a still of the first picture of the video. The Safari says in its avtivity window something about "Error WebKitErrorDomain 203". It's shown there in both cases (No Video, Still). A friend of mine, also with a macbook, has exactly the same problem.

I really don't always want to boot my old loud windows box which I can't connect to the TV, or buy the fitting adapters to watch a divx stream. Maybe it would have been better then searching the internet over and over...

Otherwise it would be nice if the divx'er could publish download links for the older versions of divx webplayer for mac. Some forums say that it works for example with Webplayer 1.3., but there seems to be no serious download mirror out there.
