DIvx 7 plays .avi files with no sound or picture

Recently upgraded from 6.8... to 7
Player works fine on existing avi files.

I upgraded Dvd hardware and installed for the first time Nero 7,
and not any Dvd Players that it came with.

Since then Divx 7 plays the avi files but with no sound or picture!!

I've done a complete re-install of Divx 7 from the website,
and I expected this to correct any problems.

It hasn't.

Any ideas?

As I have no errors and Divx 7 seems quite happy with the files :)
What information can I find out, to help resolve the situation?

Steve

I have a similar problem

I'm one of those computer-illiterates y'all hate so much, but here's my tale of woe:

My OS is Mac 10.5.7. I had DivX 6.something (I can look up the exact version if I need to), and it worked beautifully. I loved it. I upgraded to 7.0. Now none of my torrent files play. I can get other avi files to play, but not my torrent files (or the half-dozen I've tried so far).

Is there some new feature to make life miserable (similar to, say, region coding on dvds) that hates torrent files? Is there some magic setting I need to change? Is it my torrent software? (I'm using uTorrent.)

I tried some obvious things that did not work at all. I have MediaInfo, and here's what it shows for one of the non-working files:

Same Problem, May Have Found Solution

Hi all, I am having the same issue, some Avi’s that won’t play using DivX 7, but would play using earlier versions I compared files with “YAAI” and found 2 differences,
Video Bit Depth
Audio Bit Depth

Avi’s that won’t play have a Video Bit Depth of 12 or 24 and Audio Bit Depth of 12 or more

Avi’s that will play have a Video Bit Depth of 12 or 24 and Audio Bit Depth of 0

This is the avi info of one that won’t play as analysed by YAAI

I then re-encoded the video with DivX Author making sure Resolution & and file size were the same, once finished I analysed the avi with YAAI and this is the out come, It now plays with DivX 7, as you can see the main difference is the Audio Bit Depth, if it is 12 or more no Picture or Sound, but at ‘0’ I get Picture and Sound
