On the whole I have no issues with my DSM but I have a PC with the server software on as well as a laptop with the connect server on... Normally I use the laptop as the server as it's faster. However, if I'm using the PC and I either switch off the DSM after use or I switch to the laptop server my PC freezes or sometimes shuts now... this wouldnt be the end of the world but the media files are on an external HD connected to the PC so the laptop server doesnt work either.

I have to restart or reset the PC when this happens.

I'm not sure but when I 'end' the DSM session it seems to end the PC session too...does this make sense to anyone???

Is this a driver issue?... and on that topic does anyone have advice on the best reasonably priced graphics card out there?

To Clarify

yes I think that's it.. there seems to be a few glitches but that's probably the cause of a few of them

The problem occurs when:

I turn off the DSM
Switch to laptop server
The DSM goes into sleep mode

I then lose connection and the PC appears locked.. monitor light blinking, screen blank etc.. I click the mouse or keyboard to wake it up from screen saver but nothing happens and I have to re start it.

Obviously the easy answer is not to use the PC as a server but would like to solve this if I can.

Can you clarify some things?

You say the problem occurs when you do any of the three?

I turn off the DSM
or
Switch to laptop server (you mean you connected to another and t
or
The DSM goes to sleep mode?

When you say Switch to laptop server, do you mean you are connected to another and server with the DSM and then you change servers)

Thanks for looking at this

Thanks for looking at this for me..

When I say switch server... sometimes my PC is a bit slow as a server so I press setup - search for servers - choose laptop server.. at this point the PC often goes into it's freeze/hibernate state... as the media files are on an external HD connected to the PC I am then unable to access them and it's time to go to the other room and restart the PC.

It seems as if the DSM is locking up the PC but I'm not sure if my PC is screwed or needs a new graphics card to deal with the server processes?

Have not heard of this issue before

What device firmware and PC server version are you using?

1.4.1 Build: 1 connected and

1.4.1 Build: 1 connected and 1.1.3.4 on the DSM.

To add to above - the PC seems to hibernate and I cant wake it up

Just to calrify

You connect to the PC with DSM-330, and everything is working fine, and then you decide to turn the DSM-330 off, and the PC then just hibernates right away can not be woken up?
