I got the dlink for Christmas, and love it. However, no photos in the photo section will ever open. I figured maybe the pictures were too large, so I tried a small one, and it still wont open. I installed the connected server on 2 separate computers, and it still wont work. I also updated the firmware to the latest firmware, still no luck.

Does this happen to a lot of people or do I have a defective unit? It's no big deal, I really would rarely use the photo section anyway. I'm just wondering if any had a similar problem and got it to work.

All videos, music, and plugins work fine, it's just the photos.

Sorry for not responding sooner. Yes, the 1.5 beta build 47 fixed the problem. It works like a charm. Thanks for the good work.

fixed it

EDIT:
Okay, I've figured out the problem. I have a server computer with windows xp and 4 externals HD's hooked up to it. the divx connected server would not install on it so I had it installed on my desktop computer, and having it add folders over the network for the divx server. For some reason, pictures didn't work over the network (videos and music did though). If I put it on the main internal HD or any of the 4 externals on the server computer, and run it over the network to the desktop computer with connected installed it wouldn't work. As soon as I plugged all the externals into my desktop, and re-added the new folder locations, the pictures worked on any locally connected hard drive.

So they work locally, for the computer with the connected server installed but not over a network.. Seems strange, but i got it to work now.

Anybody else have pictures on a separate computer shared over a network for the dlink device? Does it work?

Thanks for info

Just to clarify,

Are you saying that if you have and external USB drive on a PC other than the server, you are able to add that remote drive for videos, music or photos, but that only the photos do not work?

Photos should work in the is case. If you can confirm that I understand you setup, we can try to reproduce your issue.

Also, if you put the photos on the local drive of the other PC, can you view them? Is it only an issue if the external drive is used?

yes

Yes, you got it right. They didn't work even on the local drive of a networked computer either.

My desktop computer runs vista and my server computer runs windows xp. It could be an issue with networking between the OSes?

This issue was discovered after the 1.4.1 release

This issue was discovered after the 1.4.1 release and has been fixed in preparation for the 1.5 beta release which is going through the final round of QA now. I will send you a PM as soon as it is available.

Is this fixed in the current

Is this fixed in the current 1.5 Beta Build 47?? I'm currently using it and I'm having the same issue.

If its still to be released, then I would greatly appreciate a PM as well :)

It is supposed to be fixed in 1.5 beta

It is the first item in the fixed bug list. Are you sure you are having the same issue reported by Nuttyguy? I have not heard back yet from him.

Awesome

Wow, thats amazing. I love how you guys looked at this bug I found and even fixed it with the next release. You amazed me. Thanks for the good work and keep it up. I believe divx connected (and systems like it) are the future of media distribution on tv sets (replacing even blu-ray and dvd).

Photos are a function of the server

Glad to hear you like the device. I hope I can help with your photo issue.

The device has no impact on photo display. If you can view anything at all on the device, it should work for photos. I have used photos as large as 50Mp so size should not be an issue.

Are the photos of the type JPG or BMP? Are they in a folder that is monitored by the server application? If you click on the photo tab of the server app, and then select a folder with photos, can you see any photo items in the folder?

What version of server are you using?

jpg

Most of the photos are jpg. The photo folder is shared on the server. I used 1.4 (didn't work) and now use 1.4.1 and it still doesn't work. I don't think it's on the servers end because I've installed it on 2 separate computers, and it still won't work. Photos in plugins (icanhascheezburger, for example) do work however.

Thanks for the quick response.

the exact problem

sorry, I forgot to specify exactly what happens. If I go to the "photos" section on the dlink, and try to open a picture, it opens but just displays a black screen, with information on the photo at the top and bottom and a box in the middle that says "loading...", but it never loads. I've let it sit for a good half an hour to see if it would load, and it wouldn't, and I've tried it on alot of pictures.

My photo folder is seperated into a bunch of subfolders, I doubt that would cause it but I figured I'd give you that info.
