Yeah i know.............

Another post about mkv files, all i want to know there an easy way to get them to play? last time i tried doing the hack and tweaks i screwed everything up and having fixed it all now i don't want to do it again, is the server version going to change and allow or recognise this file format?

just a simple update, point and click, BAM im playing mkvs???

if not............ please make one for us!

Why MKV and don't say sucks

Question and comment.

MKV is not a codec, but a package type. Why do I care about wanting to encode into a MKV package format ? Isn't it just as easy use AVI or DIVX. What is the advantage is MKV ?

I always wince when I read something like Aldebaran79's comment that the great AC3filter, which I have used for years, "Sucks". Nothing specific or any recommendations. just a wholesale write off.
AC3FILTER is the work of many, many hours of programmers, wave donated their time and expertise for YOU, so you don't have to purchase writes for commercial codecs. I wonder how many hundreds of thousands use it.

If you think that it "sucks" so badly, then get it and IMPROVE IT !!
Aldebaran79, I will waiting to see your free, open source AC3 codec that we can all use that will be FAR superior to AC3FILTER, which you can choose to improve if you want to.

problems with audio

Could someone please tell me where I can get a fix for my audio. I'm getting an error that I need Direct Show decoder 8193.

MKV now with audio, just not as smoothly...

Thanks Albbaran79, now my MKV plays without the DTS Audio code "8193" error. =]

It did start chopping a bit whereas without the audio it went smoothly ... I'll tinker a bit more I guess.

free divx movies download

how can i downloas free divx movies

Easy as 1-2-3

Easy. After the DWP finish buffering the video, you already have the movie on your drive. Right-click on the screen and choose "Save Video As..." and choose to location to save your video into. If that is not possible, go into the Videos directory of that user and grab the cached divx and rename it to .divx or .avi or .mkv.

I can't use subtitles with mkv files with this latest server version.
Is it possible to do with a hack or just with a new server version?

The new 1.5 server plays MKV

You download the free DivX 7 bundle from:

And the new 1.5 server

Connected will then play .MKV with h.264 and AAC audio without a hack.

Whish that was true....sound

Divx7 with connected suck!

Whish that was true....sound is way out of sync and files won't play normally on PC through divx player (no picture during play. funny enough it does show the pictures when in forwarding or rewinding. Also no sound)

Divx yet again delivered a crappy product.

I am seriously conciddering a popcorn hour A-110 or even 100

Nope, doesn't work

Nope, doesn't work.

I just converted a DVD with your Converter to DivX 7 format.
Connected doesn't recognize the file, and thus won't play it.

Seems very silly it doesn't even recognize you're own encodes.....

Does the DivX 7 player play it OK?

We generally work with files created by Converter. Can you send us a smaller file created by converter that fails to play back?

Sure, I'll make a small file.

It's running now, where shall i post it?

Done, it's 32 MB. Should be small enough.
(it's Jack Jack Attack from Pixar, a funny short.)
(Hope you enjoy it aswell as solve the issue :-))

Just uploaded it to ftp.......

FTP site for upload

Found it, and uploaded a

Found it, and uploaded a file....

The file you sent is playing back fine for me.

You have a general MKV playback issue. Are you using a .config file hack? Have tried killing all DivXConnected processes in task manager, restarting the server, and then re-scanning the folders?

Found the solution

Ok'e, i found the solution.

If you want connected to be able to play mkv files it is essential you associate mkv files with divX 7 player. Otherwise it will never work. Something to fix in the next update....

Something else must have changed

The file associate only effects the DivX player, not connected. For the player, it only results in the "DivX Plus" icon showing in Explorer and lunching of the player when the MKV file is double clicked.

We have confirmed this in our QA testing.

Can you uncheck the option and see if Connected still plays MKV?

Couldn't reproduce

Unchecking the option didn't break the playback.

Did some uninstalling and reinstalling with various combinations, but was unable to reproduce it.
Somehow the first time i uninstalled divx and connected and reinstalled it, it didn't quite do a proper job.
The second time round, it worked as intended.
There obviously has been an conflict with something, but i can't find the culprit anymore.

I suggest closing this bug report for now, and reopen it when there is a new incident.

Will try to reproduce tomorrow

Not home till tomorrow evening, will try to reproduce before i'm off to a week skying :-)

Did all that

Unfortunately i allready tried all that before posting.

No .config hack present. (uninstalled connected)
Did a fresh install.
Restarted server.
Restart PC.

Scanning picks up the files, but cannot read them.

MKV's still play fine in DivX Player.

BTW. did you enjoy the short?

Some more info

Some more info

I did a uninstall and a clean install of both DivX 7 and Connected.
None of my other H.264 mkv encode plays within connected, so i tried your converter.

No luck.

Whats going on here?
Surely you must have tested this with converter output.....

DivX 7 player can play the file fine.
(except for the not so good sound quality, but that's probably the realtek bug which is apparently still there)

Another question:
When will DivX 7 support subtitles?
This is a very much needed feature, and has to be supported soon.

We have tested it with converter..

I also created a file myself and it plays fine on Connected. We will look at the file you uploaded.

Not working for me...

I have just installed DivX 7 and the new 1.5 Connected server update, having patiently waited to play an MKV file for many months. Just tried it and I get the same message as server version 1.4 - "An error occurred during playback of the selected media".

The MKV file data is as follows:

Video Track #1:
FOURCC: "H264" (H.264)

Audio Track #1:
FormatTag : "8192" (Dolby AC3 Audio)
6 channels, 48000Hz
Language: eng

Subtitle Track #1:
Language: N/A

If it helps, the movie (including audio) plays flawlessly in DivX 7 player.

Any suggestions?

DivX software does not contain an AC3 decoder

DivX software does not contain an AC3 decoder, but the DSM-330 does. Are you playing it out the device or using the PC player. If the DivX 7 player is picking up the AC3 decoder, Connected PC player should as well.

If you hit enter after that message, does it play the video but not the audio?

Can you send us the file or give us a link to it to try?

Works on neither...

Nope, doesn't work on either the PC client or the DSM-330 (same error message for both). Clicking OK after the error message just returns you to the file selection screen.

Sending the file is a bit tricky - over 4Gb! Might be able to trim off a selection if you know of a program that will allow me to do this (Virtualdub won't open it).

No need to send the file.

The problem is the H264 4CC code. We will add support for this in the next beta release. Until then, I can give you a .config file that will make it work for you, but it may take a few hours to get it prepared.

That would be fantastic! No

That would be fantastic! No rush - I've had the file for almost three months so I don't mind waiting a bit longer!

Thank you for a first class service.

Here is the new .config file

New .config file:

You are THE MAN!

Worked perfectly! Flawless 720p, with no sound issues. Fantastic!

Thanks for your time and effort - it is very much appreciated.

Yeah i just did that and can now play the mkv!!!! YAY

EXCEPT........ it has no audio, i press the info button and it says audio is muted but it isnt, i tried another standard def video and sound was fine, any ideas?

What audio codec does the file use?

We support AAC in our DivX Plus profile. Does play with audio in the Dix7 player?

Ok i have installed an ac3

Ok i have installed an ac3 codec and it now plays with sound out of the pc on divx7 but still no audio from dsm-330?

It says this when i try to

It says this when i try to play in divx player

This file contains a track in the DTS Audio (code "8193") format, you may need to install a directshow decoder for this audio format in order to to hear the soundtrack of this file

dsm with dts audio

I myself have been struggling with mkv files with dts audio. I have found a reasonable solution. It may not be the most convenient way to solve it, but it does seem to work 90% of the time. Download the following freeware:

It coverts the dts audio to ac3, which is playable on the dsm. It may not play right on the Divx 7 player, sounds like the chipmunks, plays really fast. But it does seem to play properly on the dsm. I believe the dsm has a built in ac3 encoder. Hopefully Divx will support dts audio in the future, it seems to be quite common with mkv files these days. Good Luck!!!

my solution 8193 problem

Hye everybody, hye divx labs team

in my opinion, the other AC3filter version sucks

BUT with this version, your audio codec DTS 8193 directshow problem will be fixed =>

not require special settings or any tunning
