How do I add a second device to Divx-connected server?
I have a DSM-330 and I'm fairly impressed, so when I got a chance to pick up a second-hand DSM-320 I got it for our bedroom.I know its the older model but when I ran the set-up wizard and got to the stage where it searches for servers, it did'nt detent the Divx-connected server. Is the machine not compatible with the software?
They use a different media server called 'Windows Media Connect' which seems to be part of a bundle with Windows Media Player. It's interesting, now I see why people on here have been asking about UPnP support. Here's a link [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Connect]
It doesn't sound like you're totally out of luck, but you're going to have to make decisions about which formats to used based on what's common to both devices: probably AVI and MP3.
The DSM-320 has been discontinued by DLink, so maybe no more updates either.
Windows Media Connect does not work well with the DSM-320. Tversity is by far the best media server software for this device and it's free.
Thats a shame, I really like the divx-connected server.I'll try tversity,if all else fails I still have a cyberlink server installed on the pc that it picks up, although I never liked it. As for updates, its running version 1.4 but every time I test the internet connection it fails, even though I can connect to the on-line radio stations!

The DSM-320 is NOT compatible with DivX Connected. You'll need to run it from the D-Link server software supplied or something like Tversity which supports more formats.
