I can play the files no problem on the dsm-330, but its all picture and no sound - is there a certain codec I should have installed?
i have the same thing, slow motion sound, now for some reason i hae the question mark again in my dsm-330 library! aaargh.
I have been trying to do this for ages too since server 1.5 came out, you can apparently add the audio config file from that kamiwa pack and it plays most formats of audio but i have had no success with any kind of audio, after editing my files i lost all sound all together from the mkv on my pc also when played with divx 7, i have changed back to my previous settings and my other media players now play the mkv again with normal sound but the divx player plays it with this super slow motion playback like when ace ventura does the instant replay backwards!
my dsm-330 plays all the formats it used to but wont play mkvs now, especialy not with sound, see if what your getting is the same as me, click the information button when the mkv is playing and see if it says audio muted on the timer bar at the bottom, i was advised this was a codec issue, i fail to see how as the file did play perfectly at that time in divx7 player on my pc.
When I try to play the file with divx player 7 i get a warning that I will need an additional audio decoder to play the (hear) the video. When I open the file with mediainfo it says the soundtrack is ac3 and the decoder is a_ac3?
Yeah thats what i had, you need a directshow audio decoder, that should fix it as it did for me except after i installed the directshow decoder but it was still muted on the tv once streamed.
check davross thread (the 'pls don't hijack thread')... my suggestion seems to have worked for him aswell as me!
I had the same problem and downloaded an ac3 codec - which cured my problem
I have an ac3 codec installed on the pc, but I'm still getting no sound?
I can play MKV files, but dont get any sound?
I was facing same problem in my PC.I just installed "CoreVorbis" codec from
and my problem solved out.
Just try it,Your problem may be solve out.
If it wouldn't work, try to install "Vorbis Ogg ACM Codec" too from the same site through audio codec section.I installed both.Best of luck.......
ok, now i am getting sound but like slow-motion sound, and the file seems very unstable.I thought mkv would be no problem with divx7?
I myself have been struggling with mkv files with dts audio. I have found a reasonable solution. It may not be the most convenient way to solve it, but it does seem to work 90% of the time. Download the following freeware:
It coverts the dts audio to ac3, which is playable on the dsm. It also will convert the audio from ac3 to aac which is supported with Divx player. The ac3 audio may not play right on the Divx 7 player, sounds like the chipmunks, plays really fast. But it does seem to play properly on the dsm. I believe the dsm has a built in ac3 encoder. Hopefully Divx will support dts audio in the future, it seems to be quite common with mkv files these days. Good Luck!!!
