I am new to using DIVX and I am running into some problems. I bought and registered DIVX 7 PRO and also the M-PEG 2 license. I am only using the free trial of DIVX Author right now. I am trying to convert all the movies that I have on my HDD already into DIVX files. Here-in lies the problem. I have video files that will play on my normal video player (GOM Player)in MPEG-2. But when I try to run them through DIVX Converter or DIVX Author I get error messages on some that say only audio track available and others that say that DIVX just can't open the file. WTF is up with that?

Any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Wonder if this might be my problem?

Will DIVX Converter and DIVX Author convert .VOB files? I had read somewhere on the internet that a .VOB file was the same as an M-PEG2 file and you could just change the file extension on a VOB file to .MPG and the file would be fine and play. I did this on all my movie files. They play fine on GOM Player and I have not had any poblems playing any of them on my PS3. And it is not entire files that DIVX Converter and DIVX Author will not read. I travel alot so I am trying to back up my DVD collection to take with me on the road. I backed up my copy of DEATH RACE-UNCUT using DVDShrink3.2. Changed the extensions on the files from VOB to MPG. The movie is in 5 pieces. 3 of the pieces DIVX Converter will recognize but the other 2 it will not.
