Spamming on this forum
Is there no way to stop the endless spamming that seems to be going on on this forum from spurious sites in Eastern Europe.
I posted a question a few hours ago and when I check back to see if there are any replies the spammer has posted the same piece of junk on about 20 threads. It seems to happen every other day here.
I frequent a number of forums and some get spammed, but this forum seems to be particularly susceptible.
Might be a good thing to get registrations verified.

Spam is very annoying. Nevertheless I saw most of the spam is from the auto programs. Maybe admin can try to BAN for certain IPs.
Can the DivX team make a comment on why they seem unable to stop this incessant spamming on the forums?
It's been going on for a while now and seems to be increasing in frequency.
Your right fkm it shouldn't be to hard to put a stop to it.
Other sites / corperation seem to be able to.
Actually, i pm-ed Dan about this a little over two months ago.
It seems like they can't be bothered to take action.
DivX is starting to look like a shell of the company it once was...
Is DivX possibly transforming itself into an investment group?
Note:
The links to illegal content will in time attract the attention of the riaa. Maybe they'll take action then.....
Edit:
To be fair, i just had another look, and it seems they're trying to get rid of it now. So spoke to soon.....
You probably only notice what I do not delete fast enough. Much of it does not stay up for more than 30 minutes.
We do not have a good automated method yet and we do not want to prevent links in posts.
Sorry to hear that Dan,
manually deleting is to much work for any one person.
You must be really sick of it by now. Had no idea that you were doing this by hand.
Perhaps you do have the abillity to not allow a new account to create more than one post until you verify that it's a real account. That could help untill you can get an automated solution.
Another solution would be to appoint a couple of forum users as moderators. That way you could cover the time zones across the world.
Why not do something like a ReCaptcha for the posts? It's free and helps digitize books.
