Mkv's on xbox 360 extender
first of all, a sincere THANK YOU is in order :) I've been begging for this support and MS has delivered some basic (all though low quality) support of MKVs with haali but with divx mkv support my mkvs look great. However i've run across a few bugs.
Windows 7 7100
* about 30 minutes into a 720p movie sometimes i get "You have been disconnected from Windows Media center" msg and then i immediately reconnect. Unfortunately there is no resume so i have to do 30 second skip since ffwd isn't working
* if you skip a lot of sections sometimes the audio drops out completely.
A couple of my mkv's throw an MCE error asking to restart or reboot (as if they're not recognized) - i tried running graphedit on them to get the correct video/audio types however graphedit crashes with the divx container support - already posted that in another thread.
Thanks again!

Similar problem here also
Not used this much but just watched a 720p episode of heroes (.mkv file) and had the disconnect issue 3 times, 1 after 13 minutes then another at 13 mins later and the last 11 mins after that. Looking at my event viewer, my problem also apprears to be with ehshell.exe, but with MF.dll - see below for full details:
Faulting application name: ehshell.exe, version: 6.1.7100.0, time stamp: 0x49ee983b
Faulting module name: MF.dll, version: 12.0.7100.0, time stamp: 0x49eea59a

I am running Windows 7 RC Build 7100 - I have Divx 7 installed along with the Win7 MKV Tech Preview.
I hope this infomation helps!!
Same problem here, i stream
Same problem here, i stream m2ts files in 720p with the same streams in them just fine. So it's got to be something with the Divx Source filter for MKV's.
Any timeline on when it'll be fixed, seems to be a pretty big showstopper bug.
same...
I'm having the same problem here.
I can duplicate the
I can duplicate the disconnect issue on a wired gigabit network.
Im seeing the same thing
I do want to say this ides is awesome and look forward to this getting more reliable. I do have a few issues I would like to see fixed.
The 30 min or so bug is popping up on my system as well.
For some reason files in my collection that have 640 ac3 audio will not play (gives a codec issue). Will this be included in future releases or do I need to find a way to convert my 640 audio to 448? (and it might even be the way the audio is identified as why it will not play)
I have a test high bitrate 1080p file and it still glitches some (but is much better than any other option I have tried). Will this aspect get improved as well with new releases?
turns out the movies that
turns out the movies that don't work are DTS audio. I still have a problem with movies causing MCE to disconnect after about half an hour.
I wonder if MS will open up DTS support in MCE on the 360
MediaInfo can give you
MediaInfo can give you information about the file contents if you're looking for a simple solution. I'm not certain that your disconnects are related to our source filter. Does this happen with any other type of 720p media? Does your network normally handle high-bandwidth content well?
I watch lots of tv in ATSC
I watch lots of tv in ATSC OTA HD and never seen this issue. Xvids all play fine without crashing MCE at all.
Even if there was network congestion i would usually get the "buffering" alert.
Just seems like MCE crashes handling the media type and i can immediately reconnect.
This is going over 100mbit full duplex through 1 switch from the pc to the xbox 360.
I'm not sure what could cause this. Fresh install of 7100. Anyone else able to watch a full movie at 720p h264/ac3 audio?
About 20 Min a disconnect occurs.
I too experienced this behavior. I am using Windows 7 Build 7000. The two files I have tested have the following media info:
