No sound from divx file with 48khz audio?
I have some divx (DX5) videos that play fine through the server and the Connected PC program except that no sound is played. The only difference I can find between these videos and others that work perfectly with sound is that the audio in the non-working files is 48khz. Both types of files play fine with Media Player 11, Media player classic, etc. Any hints on what to try? Thanks!
Steve
Sound doesn't play on DSM-330 or Connected PC program:
0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 48000Hz 192 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo
Sound plays fine:
0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 44100Hz 112 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo
I came across this problem when encoding DivX video and the stream does not have audio. I found a temporary solution. I convert it to DV and then convert it back to DivX. But now that you state it's because 48Khz, I will try to convert my DivX in 40Khz. I will give more feedback on this. Thanks for the hints.

I have been encoding a VOB file to DivX using Dr. DivX on Windows Vista 32bit and I have had some problems. Some of the encoded video does not have audio when streaming from an HTTP server. I have asked people that use other platform, namely Mac OSX, using Firefox browser and they can hear the audio fine. I have tested the stream on XP system and it appears that XP is working fine on some of the video that would have fail on Vista. But some of the video does not have audio still. If and when you save the video to play offline, DivX Player can output audio fine, but it would not work when streamed off the HTTP server.
I have tested out ennss hint. I tried to down mix the frequency sample from 48000Khz to 44100Khz but still, I get the same problem. Can someone please help debug this audio problem where it only appears on a certain condition?
I can use the work around where I can decode the VOB to DV source and then encode it back to DivX. This works well if you have only one track. I can't use this method if I want to preserve both tracks. Can someone please answer?
