DivX Mobile Player 0.89 Released
Download DivX Mobile Player from mobile.divx.com. If you have questions or comments, please use the DivX Mobile Forum.
An updated Beta version of DivX Mobile Player is now available for Symbian Series 60, Symbian UIQ, Windows Mobile PocketPC and Windows Mobile Smartphone. If you aren't sure what your phone is, then it probably is not Symbian or Windows Mobile, sorry. There is no version available for Blackberry phones.
You must login with your DivX account before you can download the Mobile Player. Your DivX account is not your Labs account, however it is the same account used for the following:
- DivX Community Forums
- DivX Player for Windows (Tools->User Account)
If you receive an error during installation along the lines of "Certificate error. Contact the application supplier." then you may not be able to install DivX Mobile Player on your phone. Please read Antony Pranata's description of certificate signing errors and How To Solve “Certificate Error”.
If your videos stutter or stall during playback, check the bitrate. DivX Mobile Player will attempt to play any size video at any bitrate on any device. However, the performance will be limited based on the speed of the processor. DMP will drop video frames as needed during playback which means not all devices will achieve 30 fps for all bitrates. Try converting videos to 24-30 fps, 320x240 resolution, 300 kbps video and 128 kbps stereo audio. Most devices with a 200 Mhz processor (or faster) will play those videos well and it's a reasonable trade off between file size and video quality.
DivX Mobile Player for Palm OS (Garnet) has been discontinued. The last release expired in December 2007.
Version 0.89 new features:
- Restructured menus and softkeys
- New file browser with thumbnail previews
- Manual adjustment available for A/V synchronization
There are some known problems
- Motorola Q phone has improper screen orientation
- Sony Ericsson W950 switches audio randomly between headset and speaker
- UIQ 3.0 phones turn the backlight off during playback
- Windows Mobile phones with slide out keyboards distort screen orientation
- DivXMobile's blog
- 49220 reads
