Browse by Folder.jpg (again...)
This was asked for way back when we had server 1.2 and at the time Dan indicated that it might make 1.4. Well, over a year later, unfortunately still no sign of this hardly labour intensive addition being made.
We have an update (1.6?) which has been pushed back to July and despite the delay, by all accounts it doesn't look like it's going to deliver any new features/improvements. Anyhow, I'll just try bump this particular feature up.
Specifically, when browsing folders via the file or thumbnail view, instead of a snapshot of the video file(s) within that folder being displayed, Connected would display the folder.jpg if one exists. If none is present, it simply reverts to the default snapshot view. Once you click on the folder to view its contents, the video files would display the default snapshots (as for TV shows, you don't want every AVI episode with the cover).
Come on guys, surely this is a quick-win feature you could deliver on?
I really can't believe that this hasn't been done already. I've found some media managers that do it in an in-efficient way, but not things that I enjoy using. I would like to see a good implementation of the folder.jpg preview.
