| You asked for it, we built it. |
|
We've been slaving away for months on a new version of DivX Web Player that includes a ton of new features. What's new? Well, DivX Plus (.mkv) support for one thing, and you can try it now by installing our DivX Plus Web Player Beta. You can now watch MKV videos right in your web browser, including all the features that made you love MKV in the first place, like bandwidth efficient H.264, multiple audio tracks, subtitles, and 5.1 channel audio. There is also support for dynamic seeking to jump around a video without downloading the whole thing.
We think our hard work has paid off, but hey, that's what you've got to tell us. Head on over to the DivX Plus Web Player Beta forums to let us know what you think.
DivX Plus (.mkv) video support
DivX Plus Web Player now includes support DivX Plus video (MKV/H.264/AAC). Publishers can reduce bandwidth by 20% or more while maintaining the high-quality video they've come to expect from DivX by encoding and hosting video in DivX Plus format. Why is this cool? It's simple: get better video quality, with a smaller file size.
5.1 Channel Audio
With the proper audio setup on your computer, you can now enjoy your videos with full 5.1 channel surround sound (AAC) right in your web browser. DivX Plus files can also hold both stereo and multi-channel audio tracks to let you can choose whichever audio flavor you like.
Dynamic Seeking
For websites hosted on servers that support HTTP 1.1, DivX Plus Web Player will now let you skip ahead in the video you're watching without having to wait for the whole video to load. This is great for checking the visual quality of a video before you save it, or skipping past a part of a video you've already seen before.
Known Issues
DivX Plus Web Player 2.0 Beta contains the following known issues:
- Web Player may freeze on very low bandwidth (<300kbps) connections
